How many blocks do I need for a fire pit ring?

While your fire pit ring can be used as a stand-alone unit to contain your fire, some backyard enthusiasts choose to enclose it with a fire pit surround made of blocks or bricks. The exact number of blocks for your fire pit ring will depend on the type of the blocks you choose and the desired height for your fire pit. Most fire pits use trapezoidal blocks that fit together neatly. These blocks are usually about 4" tall with a tapered design, so they naturally form a circle when placed side-by-side. Our Legacy Series™ Fire Pit Ring has a 30" diameter and is 8" tall. If the blocks are 4" in height, you will need two to three layers of about 18 blocks each (for a total of 36-54 blocks) to create the perfect fire pit surround.

Can I put a fire pit ring on grass?

Although it is possible to place a fire pit ring directly on grass for your outdoor fire pit, it is not the most ideal or recommended option.
