Complete your setup
Everyone with a fire pit already owns a poker. It is a stick, or a garden tool, or the one that came with the fireplace set and bends.
This is the one that replaces it and then stays out by the pit.
Why this one
Powder coated heavy duty steel with a brass badge, and a hooked head that grips a log instead of skating off it. The head is angled so it pulls rather than slides across the bark. The handle is rounded, so you can work it one handed with a drink in the other, and it hangs on a nail when you are done. It lives outdoors between fires and holds its finish doing it.
The bottle opener sits under the handle. It sounds like a novelty right up until the first evening you are settled in a chair and nobody wants to get up.
Choosing your length
Measure from the tip of the poker to the far edge of the handle. That total is the length on the label, not the reach past your hand. Take about six inches off it for the handle to work out how far into the fire you will actually get.
- 24 inch. An indoor fireplace, a chiminea, or a smaller pit. Packs for camping without taking the whole trunk.
- 30 inch. An open backyard fire, where you want more distance between your arm and the flames.
If you are standing over a wide pit rather than sitting beside a small one, take the 30.
What it does not do
This poker moves wood. It does not feed air. If what you want is to bring sullen coals back up without putting your face in the smoke, that is the Stoker Poker, which you blow through from several feet back. A lot of people keep both: one to set the logs, one to wake the fire.
It is also not a four foot tool. Neither length will keep you back from a bonfire. For that kind of reach the 46 inch Stoker Poker is the one.

As a gift
There is no size to get wrong past the two lengths, nothing to assemble, and the bottle opener is what makes them laugh when they open the box.
What goes with it
Sure-Fire Starters light a fire in bad weather and burn long enough to catch real wood. Bonfire Boss Fire Gloves are what you want on your hands before you move a grate or set a log by hand. And a Fireside Wool Blanket is the thing nobody thinks to buy until the second hour outside.
Working on the pit itself? Our fire pit insert sets drop into stone and block openings from 27 to 44 inches, round or square.

Incredible Workmanship
You wouldn't believe the quality of these. VERY wellmade. Sturdy. Heavy. My only complaint is I should have bought another bigger one.

Legacy Series™ Steel Fire Poker
I don’t know what I was doing without a fire poker on hand. This thing is heavy duty and versatile! I like this fire poker so much I’m going get one each for my buddies who also make fires often. This was my first purchase from Walden Backyards. Once this came in and I could see and feel the quality, I ended up ordering their classic fire pit grate. It was the circular one with a 24” diameter. The thing feels so tough and increased the efficiency of my fire immediately! I needed something to get the wood off the ground and increase air flow, and this did the trick perfectly! So far, I love this company and will continue to order from them as long as I need more accessories.

I purchased this for my husband's birthday and he loves it. We just finished camping for angel nights and used it every night at the campfire. Attractive and useful.
